Congratulations to Caroline Beattie – otherwise known as @CLB001 – whose Tweeting has won a preview cruise on Celebrity’s newest ship, Silhouette.
She and husband Michael will be flying to Rome at the end of the month to get the Celebrity treatment on a two-day VIP sailing before any paying passengers board the ship.
The competition, which I judged along with Carolyn Spencer Brown, editor in chief of Cruise Critic, asked entrants to say – in 140 characters or fewer – which of the ship’s new features they would most like to experience. Caroline’s entry, which each of us independently picked as a winner, praised the delights of the luxury vessel’s Lawn Club Grill.
She Tweeted that she’d rather be at “The Lawn Club – a perfect place to watch a stunning sunset while tending your succulent sizzling steak just the way you like it!”
Caroline, from Belfast in Northern Ireland, is now looking forward to that money-can’t-buy trip on the a preview sailing of Celebrity Silhouette.
“I am so excited; I have never won anything other than a bottle of wine on the tombola before. It’s really fabulous to be able to see the ship before anyone else and we are really looking forward to having a BBQ on the lawn at the new Lawn Club Grill.
“My husband and I are booked to go onboard Celebrity Solstice at the end of September so this will be a fantastic opportunity to get a taste of what’s in store.”
Silhouette is the fourth of five Solstice class ships, which each feature a real grass lawn high up between the twin funnels, and the Lawn Club Grill is a new feature replacing the Hot Glass Show which features on the three earlier vessels.
Also new on this ship will be the Alcoves, private cabanas on the lawn, the Hideaway high-tech tree-house retreat, and an Art Studio where passengers can learn to draw and paint.
Celebrity Silhouette will offer 12-night cruises from Rome (Civitavecchia) to the Holy Land calling at Santorini and Athens (Piraeus) in Greece and Haifa and Jerusalem (Ashdod) in Israel among other destinations. Fares start from £1,349 per person including return flights from the UK and all meals and entertainment onboard (price based on August 22 departure).
