brekaway1.jpgAs Norwegian Epic heads back across the Atlantic at the end of its debut European season, Norwegian Cruise Line is taking the first bookings for a Transatlantic voyage from Britain to the United States on the company’s next new ship, Breakaway (above).
Epic, which can carry a maximum of 5,400 passengers, left Barcelona on Sunday for a 13-night crossing with only two ports of call – Ponta Delgado in the Azores and St Thomas in the Virgin Isles – before arriving in Miami on November 5.
Norwegian Breakaway, which is in the early stages of construction at the Meyer-Werft shipyard in Germany, will leave Southampton on April 30, 2013 for a seven-night journey to its home port of New York.
The 4,000-passenger ship will begin a season of seven-night cruises to Bermuda beginning May 11, 2013. Sister ship Norwegian Getaway will follow a year later.
Fly-cruise packages for the Transatlantic crossing are available from £932 per person including flight back to the UK, or from £569 cruise-only.
Francis Riley, Vice President & General Manager International, Norwegian Cruise Line, said: “Guests on the Transatlantic crossing will be among the first to experience Norwegian Breakaway which will bring together the best innovations and designs of our current fleet all on one ship.
“We are very excited to have Norwegian Breakaway visit Southampton and for our UK guests to have the opportunity to be a part of her first voyage to New York.”
Francis added: “Norwegian Epic has performed beyond our expectations this year. This proves that Norwegian Cruise Line is delivering a product that is different to all others in Europe and meeting an increasing demand for more relaxed informal cruising. In particular the niche areas have sold well – with our luxury suites in The Haven and The Studios, which are designed and priced for solo travellers, both proving a big hit. We’re looking forward to bringing her back for a second successful season in 2012.”
Norwegian Epic returns to Barcelona on April 25 next year and fares for a four-night cruise departing on that date and travelling to Marseille, Palma, Majorca and back to Barcelona are priced from £339 per person cruise-only, based on two sharing an inside stateroom.
The ship will operate seven-night cruises departing Barcelona on Sundays between April 29 and October 14 and travelling to Naples, Civitavecchia (for Rome), Livorno (for Florence and Pisa), Villefranche, and Marseille. Fares from £599 cruise-only based on two people sharing an inside stateroom.
Seven-night Bermuda from New York cruises on board Norwegian Breakaway, departing various dates from May to October 2013 will be available from £1,666 per person for a fly-cruise and £639 per person cruise-only.
