Savings for single passengers

Single cabins are all the rage at the moment. P&O’s Ventura has just gained 18 during its recent refit and newcomer Norwegian Breakaway has followed big sister Norwegian Epic by having 59 studio cabins for solo passengers.
Some cruise lines have had them all the time and are now realizing that they should be shouting about them.
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines have even announced that in addition to the stock of 109 single cabins on their fleet of four ships, twin cabins on a number of cruises next year will be available for single occupancy with no single supplement.
Sales and marketing director Nathan Philpot said: “We understand how difficult it can be to find holidays for one without huge singe supplements.
“We are very proud that, in 2011, cruise experts at influential consumer website Cruise Critic voted Fred. Olsen ‘Best for Solo Cruisers’ in its third annual Editors’ Picks Awards, and described us as ‘the line most committed to keeping the solo traveller happy’.”
Helping to achieve this are gentlemen hosts who partner single women on the dance floor and get-together gatherings to help solo travellers to meet and make friends.
Black Watch and Boudicca each have 43 single cabins, Braemar has 40, and Balmoral, 64.
The cruises that will attract no single supplement on selected twin grade cabins occupied by solo travellers next year include some of the company’s first-ever two-night voyages.
The full list is:
Boudicca: 28-night Empires of the Mediterranean and Black Sea cruise, departing from Liverpool on October 11, 2014.
Boudicca: two-night Dublin Christmas mini-cruise, departing from Liverpool on December 19, 2014.
Braemar: three-night Paris mini-cruise from Southampton on November 20, 2014.
