And the best buy is … a cruise

/, Cruise News/And the best buy is … a cruise

Cruising is the best-value family holiday around. It’s a point that has been made so often it surprises me it needs to be made again. But the start of National Cruise Week is as good a time as any to issue a reminder.
Step forward, Carnival Cruise Lines, who have compared the cost of a land-based holiday in the Caribbean with a five-day cruise. And guess what, a family of four would pay £2,902 for the cruise compared with £6,905 for a hotel resort.
In working out the figures, Carnival has included transfers to the ship and an itinerary which visits the Cayman Islands and Mexico.
Once on board, the kids’ clubs and all entertainment – including musical shows, comedians and live bands – are all covered by the fare. Carnival reckon it would cost £230 to get the equivalent on a multi-destination holiday.
In hotels, the cost of food, soft drinks and ice creams is going to mount up to a wallet-0busting £415. On the ship, breakfast, lunch, dinner and unlimited snacks throughout the day come at no extra charge.
Adolfo Perez, managing director of Carnival Cruise Lines UK said; “It’s no surprise to see a Carnival Cruise come in far less expensive compared to the land locked equivalent. Cruising offers fantastic value as well as the chance to experience lots of stunning destinations within a relatively short space of time.”
It’s not just Carnival, of course. Thomson Cruises put together a similar demonstration not long ago. A near-identical case could be made for destinations from the Mediterranean and Alaska.
And you’d have to have your own yacht, or private jet, to be able to match the experience of a round-the-world cruise.

No news yet on Titanic II?
Perhaps they will do a “cut and shut” job on Concordia!

I agree best buy is a cruise if you are a couple or sharing a cabin with someone. Definatly not if you are Single. I have only been on one cruise and loved it I want to go on another in March for my birthday somewhere warm, but I am 65, female and the single supplement is horrendous. When will Travel company’s realise not all travellers are happy families
