Charity begins on two wheels

//Charity begins on two wheels

bikers.jpgInspired, I hope, by my brother (above left) and his 4,400-mile cycle ride around the coast of the UK, Cunard president Peter Shanks (right) is preparing for a charity bike ride of his own.
Just a little shorter though – Peter is joining friends of the Prince’s Trust – which Cunard supports throughout the year – on a 47-mile ride from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle. I’m not sure what roads they are taking, as the direct route is only about half that, and the 26 mile 385 yards distance of a marathon race is precisely that because it was set in 1908 when the Olympic event ran from Windsor to White City. But no matter, good luck to Peter and the other participants in their fund-raising efforts.
My brother (aka @CancerBikeMan) has been recovering at home after completing his own 69-day marathon last week and he looks certain to exceed his original fundraising target of £20,000 in aid of Cancer Research UK. Only after you have added your donation to him can I allow you to donate to Peter.

    You’re too kind! Not so sure about recovering though – I’ve just agreed to do a 110-mile ride on Sunday. Which means, of course, that it will probably rain in the NW of England!
