VAMPIRE.jpgAfter TV’s True Blood, Vampire Diaries and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it was only a matter of time before there was a vampire-themed cruise. After all, there have been cruises for everyone from Archers fans to bikers; Agatha Christie followers to celebrity chefs; and musically for fans of Kiss, the Backstreet Boys and Donny and Marie Osmond.
The Vamps at Sea Cruise is taking place on Holland America’s Zuiderdam next June, sailing from Vancouver to Alaska, and just to make sure nobody feels left out, one selling slogan is “Whether you are Team Glitter or Team Goth, remember – we are all Team Vampire.”
Activities include a late-night costume ball with “vampalicious” cocktails, a scavenger hunt and a vampire talent show. Vampire authors will be giving talks, including Dacre Stoker, a distant relative of the Dracula writer Bram Stoker.
Now I’m no Vampire fan myself, and I like garlic with my steaks, but I can see one big advantage of travelling on this cruise – there’s unlikely to be any competition for the deckchairs and sunloungers.
