Bargain fever spreads to cruises

//Bargain fever spreads to cruises

It was Black Friday in America yesterday – the day after Thanksgiving when some of the best deals of the year are available in stores and travel agents across the country.
Looks like the bargain fever is spreading across the Atlantic, with cruise companies keen to distract customers from the Christmas shopping and get them planning for next year’s holiday.
Virgin Cruises have announced a weekend sale with 10 per cent off new bookings for balcony cabins and suites on a host of cruises next year.
For example, book by Monday to grab a 10-night Emirates cruise-and-stay holiday departing next January 9 would cost £949. The package includes seven nights aboard Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas, visiting Fujairah, Muscat and Abu Dhabi, followed by three nights at Dubai’s Suite Hotel at the Mall of the Emirates.
A seven-night Western Mediterranean cruise departing January 15 on MSC Splendida is available from £399, including return flights from London to Barcelona, and visiting at Casablanca, Gibraltar, Marseille and Genoa.
Or for £899 you could enjoy a Orlando stay-and-cruise which includes six nights at Rosen Inn, Pointe Orlando (room-only) before joining Navigator of the Seas for seven nights in the Caribbean, visiting Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Haiti. Includes Virgin Atlantic flights, departing January 22.
Virgin RockStar service also includes perks such as half-price chauffeur transfers and champagne receptions on board. www.virginholidayscruises.co.uk, or call 0844 573 4398.
Book a Thomson cruise before Monday and get savings of up to £854 per couple and a free upgrade to an outside cabin on holidays in the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Red Sea between February and April. www.thomson.co.uk/cruise
Under cover of marking their 175th anniversary in 2012, P&O are offering discounts of up to 10 per cent on 175 of the 214 cruises in their current brochure. Book a 2013 world cruise and they’ll even throw in £1,100 on-board credit.
Deals include a seven-night cruise to Spain and France on board Ventura in March for £599, and £949 for a 14-night cruise on Azura in November to Gibraltar, Spain, France, Italy and Portugal.
Also included in the 175th Anniversary Sale are 2013 World Cruises on Adonia (85 nights), Arcadia (99 nights), Aurora (106 nights) and Azura (110 nights).
There are 92 shorter sectors available including Bangkok to Dubai (13 nights on Aurora), Singapore to Sydney (16 nights on Azura) Rio de Janeiro to Santiago (20 nights on Adonia) and San Francisco to Southampton (22 nights on Arcadia).
The discounts will be available on bookings made between December 1 and February 29. www.pocruises.co.uk or call 0845 3 554 444.
