Pictures fit for a Princess

//Pictures fit for a Princess

dawnmanhattan2.jpgIt was an early morning in November, as the cruise ship Sea Princess arrived at Manhattan piers, that I took this picture of dawn over Manhattan. It’s been tucked away on my computer hard disk since 2006, but I dragged it out this week in response to an appeal from Princess Cruises for passengers to submit pictures to be displayed in their newest ship.
The line is looking for 1,000 images to adorn the corridors of Royal Princess, which is under construction in Italy and due to debut in May next year. The image judged the best, by a panel including Rai Caluori, executive vice president of fleet operations; Teresa Anderson, vice president of interior design; and Ian Johnson, director of photography and video, will win a cruise for two on the new vessel.
Paul Ludlow, Princess Cruise UK director, said “This competition will give our passengers the chance to be permanently recognised on board Royal Princess. We are therefore asking all our passengers to start taking a look through their cruise holiday photos and sending over their favourites.”
I’m going to sift through more of the pictures I took on that 2006 cruise along America’s eastern seaboard, from Quebec to Fort Lauderdale, as well as my album from the Alaska cruise I took with Princess last year.
If you want to enter, full details can be found at www.princess.com/royalprincesscontest. Closing date for entries is March 31 – so I’ll also have time to submit a picture or two from my forthcoming cruise to China and Japan.
