Cruising to Infinity – and the Wonder

//Cruising to Infinity – and the Wonder

pixar.jpgMickey Mouse won’t be getting things all his own way on cruise ship Disney Wonder this year – he’s facing a takeover by Buzz Lightyear and Woody from Toy Story.
They will be joined by Mr Incredible, grumpy old Carl from Up, and Remy from Ratatouille in a series of four Pixar-themed cruises along the California coast.
The seven-night voyages on board the 1,750-passenger ship will be sailing out of Los Angeles from September 16 and will visit San Francisco, San Diego and Ensenada.
Pixar artists and film-makers will be on board to give passengers a behind-the-scenes peek at the production process, and there will be an exhibition of story boards, character sketches and other artwork which has only previously been displayed at the Pixar studios and at leading art museums.
The entire library of Pixar films will be shown in the ship’s Buena Vista theatre, and the cruises coincide with the premiere of Finding Nemo 3D which will also be taking to the sea.
And of course there will be more than a dozen Pixar characters – some of them are in the picture (top) – mingling with passengers, each of whom will be presented with a commemmorative lithograph created by Steve Purcell, a Pixar artist and co-director of the new Scottish fairy tale, Brave, due to be released in August.
►Mickey and his pals will have sister ship Disney Magic to themselves when they return to the Mediterranean next year for a season of four, seven and 12-night cruises from Barcelona.
