Invasion of the towel animals

//Invasion of the towel animals

breeze_animals3.jpgAs I said farewell to Celebrity Silhouette this morning in Civitavecchia, the ship was being joined in port by Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas, Norwegian Spirit, and Croisières de France’s Horizon – itself the former Celebrity Horizon, and at one time Island Star.
Had I been there a day earlier I would have seen Carnival’s newest flagship Carnival Breeze, whose housekeeping staff laid on a surprise for the passengers on its inaugural voyage.
Anyone venturing to the pool deck early in the morning to stake their claim for a sun lounger (against the rules and all known laws of human decency) would have found every one occupied by a towel animal.
There were more on the side of the pool and on tables – it was an impressive sight. And possibly just as scary as the first time you open your cabin door and find a towel monkey – wearing your sunglasses – hanging from the pelmet.
Well done to the Breeze crew, and to John Heald’s tame photographer, Mr Radu, for the pictures.
I’m looking forward to joining the ship in Barcelona on Friday. Now I’m wondering whether I’ll have to share my cabin with hundreds of fluffy white creatures.
