Ask the Captain: What do you want to know about mv Voyager?

//Ask the Captain: What do you want to know about mv Voyager?

voyagerawning.jpgbroomhall.jpgAlmost ready to go . . . cruise ship Voyager sports a new blue all-weather awning outside the Veranda restaurant as its refurbishment nears completion. The vessel is due to arrive in its home port of Portsmouth at the weekend and will be christened by TV naturalist Miranda Krestovnikoff on Tuesday.
Over the past few weeks in Portland, Dorset, Voyager – formerly the Alexander von Humboldt – has received a new Lookout lounge, a piano bar called Scott’s Lounge in line with the ship’s new explorer theme.
There’s new soft furnishings in the public rooms, which have also received a sprinkling of artwork. To meet the expectations of Voyages of Discovery regulars, the library has been refurbished and a bridge club has been added. The ship has 270 cabins and will carry 540 passengers.
I’ll be taking a look round the ship on Monday, when I will also get a chance to sit down with Captain Neil Broomhall and ask him any questions you like – about the ship, his career at sea, and cruising in general.
How about these to start?

  • What do you think passengers will be most impressed by on Voyager?
  • What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learnt or found out about the new ship?
  • How does mv Voyager compare to other ships you have captained?
  • Where are you most looking forward to sailing to in mv Voyager’s first season?

Send me your questions – either by commenting below, or on Twitter to @CaptGreybeard, and I’ll add them to the list.

Are there things that loyal passengers from Discovery will miss if they transfer their affections to Voyager? And what new features can they look forward to?

Other than the captain, who is the most important crewmember on board Voyager?

Hi John, booked to join the mv Voyager from Dubai to Colombo starting Dec 3rd 13.
Can you tell me where the Voyager berths in Mumbai harbour so that I can work out my route into the city.
    Many thanks.
    Graham

Sorry Graham, I’m not familiar with Mumbai Harbour. I suggest you contact Voyages of Discovery for information on travelling into the city – if it’s not already covered in your pre-cruise documentation. As it happens, I will be boarding the ship in Colombo on the day you disembark. Have a great cruise !
