Super time-lapse video of new cruise ship Royal Princess arriving in Southampton this morning and being turned around off Town Quay to enter her berth at Ocean Terminal. Shot by Matthew Morris from an office at Peer 1 Hosting. Click the box at bottom-right of the image to enlarge to full screen.
Royal Princess was greeted by rain and a musical salute as actor, director and writer Simon Callow conducted the Southampton University Brass Band in a serenade of God Save The Queen. The ship replied with its own musical horn, playing the opening notes of the theme song from the TV’s The Love Boat.
Paul Ludlow, Princess Cruises UK director, said: “A musical welcome was the perfect way to mark the arrival of Royal Princess ahead of the official naming ceremony on Thursday. Even the British weather could not dampen the spirits of the spectators who lined the shore and came out in their boats to greet the ship.”
