Seabourn signs new ship deal

//Seabourn signs new ship deal

It was back in October that luxury cruise line Seabourn announced it would be building a new ship. Today the contract was signed for its construction by Fincantieri in Italy.
Based on the design of Seabourn Odyssey, Sojourn and Quest, the new vessel will have an extra deck and will carry an extra 150 passengers – a 30 per cent increase.
Gross tonnage will be 40,350 – 26 per cent more than its sisters.
The new capacity will almost replace that lost with the sale of Seabourn’s smallest ships to Windstar. Pride leaves the fleet in April, while Legend and Spirit will follow next spring. The as-yet-unnamed ship is scheduled for launch in summer 2016.
“The new ship will continue the evolution that began with Seabourn’s fleet expansion, adding modern design elements and innovations consistent with our reputation for understated elegance,” said Richard D. Meadows, Seabourn’s president.
“With its delivery, the most highly rated cruise line in the world will also offer travellers the newest fleet of ships in the luxury segment.”
