Time out in support of a good cause

//Time out in support of a good cause

billandrose.JPGNormal service on the cruise blog may be interrupted this week, as I am taking time off to act as support for my brother, who is younger, fitter and crazier than me. Why else would he have taken it upon himself to cycle 4,300 miles round the British coast in order to raise money for Cancer Research UK?
After setting out on May 10, Bill has defied all attempts to put him off course – including persistent torrential rain, gales which blew a 30-ton oak tree on to the motorhome support vehicle, and last week, a half-blind motorist who shunted into his bike and then drove off. The ride is scheduled to finish on July 20.
Bill documents his daily progress at billhoneywell.blogspot.com and you can also follow @CancerBikeMan on Twitter.
This week’s leg is along the south coast, stopping at Warsash on Sunday night, Swanage on Monday, and reaching Weymouth by Tuesday. Then on to Exmouth, Dartmouth and Hope Cove in Devon, before I leave him behind in St Austell.
We would all be very grateful if, as well as following his progress, you could make a donation to this deserving cause – either direct with Cancer Research UK or at JustGiving.
We have already been taken aback by some amazing acts of generosity. The picture above shows him with Margaret, one of the regular readers of Captain Greybeard’s blog, who provided accommodation for Bill and his crew in deepest Essex and stocked them up with enough food to last a week!
I’ll be back soon – maybe sooner than you think if any of our caravan sites along the way are kitted up with wi-fi.

Just to agree with what you say about Bill – he has had a far more exciting journey than I am sure he imagined it would be and deserves LARGE donations in support of his cause.
